First Impressions with Tower Quest Legacy
I’m always excited to explore new slots from Play’n Go. This studio has created some of my favorite games, including Reactoonz and Reactoonz 2, so I’m always hopeful that it can recapture that magic. I enjoy fantasy epics too, so I was interested to see how Play’n Go tackled the genre.
The game loaded very quickly. I then watched an evil wizard cackling atop a dark, stormy tower. The animations were a little basic, which was disappointing, but it set the scene for the game.
That said, I was immediately impressed by the quality of the graphics when the grid appeared.
It was easy to set my bet size too. Some slots require you to choose your paylines, coin sizes, coins per line, and so on, but Tower Quest Legacy keeps things simple. Just choose the amount you’d like to wager on each spin and hit the green play button.

Visuals and Presentation: 4/5
The symbols on Tower Quest Legacy are very well-designed. You’ll encounter elven warriors, skeletal kings, dark wizards, gruesome orcs, and snarling dragons. They look fantastic.
I also enjoyed the grid layout. It’s a 5-reel, 3-row grid, with a blue meter on the left and a red meter on the right of the grid. Fearsome dragons are perched above these meters, glaring ominously on the reels. Also, the graphics and animations are excellent when you trigger the bonus round. The burning wild symbols are exciting if you unlock the “Everburning Wilds” too.
By contrast, I found the background to be pretty basic. There’s a vaguely ominous sky and some nondescript metal beams and scattered books, but the design is rudimentary.
The Role of Sound: 4/5
The soundtrack is precisely what you’d expect from a high fantasy game. It sounds dark, ominous, and suitably epic, conjuring up images of Frodo scuttling through Mordor or Daenerys riding her dragons.
I enjoyed the sound of the reels spinning too. They clink into place, sounding vaguely like a warrior’s chainmail. The meters make a satisfying burble each time you top them up with a blue or red flask too.
Gameplay Journey: 5/5
I really enjoyed playing Tower Quest Legacy. It’s a low-medium volatility game, so I secured lots of small, regular wins throughout my session.
However, I also landed several big wins after triggering the bonus feature. I was lucky, as I managed to unlock this feature on a pretty regular basis. Here’s how my journey unfolded:
- I started playing for $1.50 per spin. After a few spins, I was up by $6, and the flasks on either side of the grid were starting to fill up. I was securing small, reasonably regular wins, but they weren’t particularly mind-blowing.
- After five minutes, I was down by $19, but I then received my 10th red flask, so I decided to activate that feature. The dragon breathed fire on the reels, and I was awarded five free spins, with a 3x multiplier in place. Unfortunately, I only earned $5.60.
- A minute later, I could activate the blue meter. I was awarded a re-spin, whereby the middle reel became wild and multiplied all wins by 2x. This earned me just $1.20, so it was an inauspicious start. I decided to change my strategy. Instead of activating the flask features at the first possible opportunity, I left the meters to fill up to the very top in a bid to unlock the best rewards.
- After playing for 20 minutes, I was down by $72. I then received three scatters and triggered the bonus game for the first time. I was given the chance to choose a warrior, so I opted for the elven archer.
- “Each arrow bends fate to my will,” she roared. That sounded promising, but then the villainous wizard warned me: “Your doom awaits!” I picked three cards, and they battled against the warrior’s cards. This process was repeated for three rounds, and I won $49.50. This bonus game was fun, and it reduced my overall losses to $22.50.
- I kept spinning, and I quickly clinched a $50.80 win during the base game, which left me $24.50 up. I then endured a lengthy losing streak, which left me down by $14.70. I finally filled up the blue meter to the top, which earned me a re-spin, with reels 1, 3, and 5 wild. It proved to be a bit of an anticlimax, as I only won $8.10 from that re-spin.
- A couple of minutes later, I triggered the bonus round a second time. This time I chose the male elf. “My sword shapes destiny,” he declared. This time, I played five rounds, and won a total of $216, which included a $150 bonus. Coins erupted on the screen, and I was left with an overall profit of $199.80.
- I considered ending the game at this point. However, I only needed three more red flasks to fill up the red meter to the very top, which would result in “Everburning Wilds,” so I decided to keep spinning.
- I triggered the bonus round a third time and chose the male elf again. I won $42. A few minutes later, the red meter was full. I received five free spins, with fiery, sticky wilds. The dragon breathing fire onto the reels was exciting. In total, I won $58 from the five free spins. It didn’t seem like much after waiting for around 45 minutes to fill up the red meter, but it left me up by $288.50.
- After playing for another 15 minutes, I was ahead by $252.90, so I decided to take a break. I then played Tower Quest Legacy once again on my iMac, and I had another enjoyable session. On my fourth bonus game, I won $54.80 with the female elf. The next time I triggered it, I won $250.50 with the male elf. For some reason, I had more luck with him.
- The next time I filled the blue meter, I won $44.30, which was more impressive. Overall, I won $263.80 on my second session, leaving me with total winnings of $552.30 after playing Tower Quest Legacy.
- I must have been lucky, as I triggered the bonus feature regularly, which resulted in several big wins. I also managed to grind out lots of small wins during the base game, so I was impressed by the risk-reward ratio of the game.
Bonus Features Through My Eyes: 5/5
There are three bonus features on the Tower Quest Legacy. You can unlock rewards by filling up the blue meter or the red meter. There’s also an entertaining bonus game, which allows you to play cards against a dark wizard.

I enjoyed watching the meter fill up while playing the Tower Quest Legacy slot. Initially, I found it to be an anticlimax, as I only secured a modest win from the “Battle of the Wilds” re-spin. For the remainder of my session, I opted against activating that re-spin. I wasn’t really blown away by the “Battle of the Wilds” re-spin either. Instead, I waited to receive 15 blue flasks. I earned a few decent wins from the “Towers of Dark Power” re-spin, so I felt it was worth holding out for 15 flasks. |

Once again, I found the “Everburning Wilds” feature to be the best option. It takes a while to fill up the meter, which may deter some players. However, I found the “Empowered Wilds” and “Wild Adventures” features pretty underwhelming. I preferred to delay gratification and activate the “Everburning Wilds” feature instead. |

I really enjoyed this bonus game. It’s vaguely reminiscent of games like Magic: The Gathering, although far more basic. The bonus round is completely different to the base game, which is refreshing. It’s also intriguing, as you have lots of opportunities to win random cash prizes. I managed to trigger this round on a pretty regular basis, and I often secured substantial wins. Defeating the wizard and earning a 100x bonus was especially satisfying. |
Balancing Risk and Reward: 5/5
Tower Quest Legacy offers a strong risk-reward ratio. This online slot has a low to medium volatility level, so the average player should expect reasonably regular wins. However, you can also earn up to 1,500x your bet, which is pretty good for a low-medium volatility slot.
There’s no progressive jackpot, and some players may prefer games with higher maximum win limits. However, if you enjoy games with balanced volatility and exciting bonus features, Tower Quest Legacy is worth a spin.
The Good and Bad of Tower Quest Legacy
I enjoyed playing Tower Quest Legacy, but it isn’t perfect. Here are the strengths and weaknesses I identified:
- I secured regular wins in the base game. On average, I also triggered the bonus round every 10 to 15 minutes, which allowed me to earn larger payouts.
- The gameplay is smooth, and the action is varied. It’s fun to collect the flasks and unlock bonus features.
- Tower Quest Legacy features an entertaining bonus round. The round can take several minutes to play out as you choose cards, battle the wizard, and rack up cash prizes.
- The symbols are well-designed, the animations are smooth, and the soundtrack fits the theme.
- Many online slots have a higher maximum win limit than Tower Quest Legacy. Increasing it to 2,500x might attract more players.
- The RTP rate is slightly above average at 96.2%, but it could be higher.
- You cannot re-trigger free spins after activating the flask features. They can sometimes result in an anticlimax, as you wait for a long time to fill the meter and then only receive a modest reward.
- The background is basic and unimaginative. A more intricate backdrop to the grid would set the stage better for this epic adventure.
Final Thoughts on Tower Quest Legacy
This is another excellent online slot from the reliable Play’n Go studio. Tower Quest Legacy is well-designed, with some great bonus features. The RTP rate is slightly above average, and you can win reasonably large prizes during the bonus round.
That said, Tower Quest Legacy is unlikely to appeal to players seeking huge payouts. The maximum win is 1,500x and there’s no progressive jackpot. However, I really enjoyed earning regular wins, and I’d recommend this game to anyone that likes slots with low to medium volatility rates.
I’ll definitely play Tower Quest Legacy again. I’m well aware that I was a little fortunate when playing the game, as I managed to trigger the bonus round on a regular basis. In the future, I won’t expect to get so lucky each time I play, but I look forward to taking on the dark wizard in more high-stakes card games.
