Joker’s Million is a high-quality online slot from BGaming. I was excited to play this game for several reasons:

  • The slot has a 97.34% return to player (RTP) rate. That’s well above average for an online slot.
  • BGaming has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2018. This innovative studio is now one of the world’s top three online casino software providers, along with Evolution Gaming. That’s according to aggregator SoftSwiss, which powers more than 1,200 online casinos.
  • I have enjoyed playing lots of BGaming slots, including Wild Tiger, Burning Chilli X, Elvis Frog in Vegas, Bonanza Billion, and Fruit Million.
  • I’ve always been a fan of classic fruit-themed slots, and I like to see software developers putting a modern spin on this genre.
  • BGaming slots are featured at the best social and sweepstakes casinos. Many of them have already listed Joker’s Million. The high RTP rate makes it a prime candidate for anyone seeking to clear playthrough requirements on Sweeps Coins before hopefully redeeming them for cash prizes or gift cards.

Did the online slot live up to the hype?  Read on, and I will go in-depth on my experience while playing and evaluate each facet of the game.

First impressions with Joker’s Million

I was immediately impressed by the rapid loading times. It only took a second for the holding screen to appear, which provided details about how the game works. I hit the “Click to Start” button, and the game appeared instantly.

A jaunty, upbeat soundtrack began to play, which reminded me of circus music. I also liked the sleek design. This online slot looks like the classic fruit machine slot cabinets found at land-based casinos, with an attractive blue and purple color scheme.

I liked the way BGaming has built the paytable into the top of the slot machine. That means you don’t need to pause your session to check the value of each symbol. I found it easy to set my bet size too, as I just had to choose a monetary value, which covered all paylines. The gameplay seemed smooth, and the reels spun quickly.

Visuals and presentation: 4.5/5

Joker’s Million is another beautifully designed slot from BGaming. It offers a modern take on the classic fruit machine, with well-designed symbols and sharp graphics. The presentation is shiny and vibrant, and I thought the color combinations worked well.

The animations are terrific. I liked the way the paylines appeared on the grid and the winning symbols pulsated each time I secured a winning combo. The expanding joker wild looked great too.

I was interested to learn that BGaming used AI to create the joker. She’s certainly a far cry from Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, or Jared Leto, with perfectly applied makeup and impossible curves. She looks a little disconcerting, but she gives the game an air of old-school glamor.

The role of sound: 4.5/5

I thought the soundtrack was perfect for this game. It initially features an upbeat piano tune, which is reminiscent of a visit to the circus. When you spin the reels, the music becomes much livelier, with a brass band playing and various whizz-bang sound effects.

The sounds neatly complement the theme, which includes the female joker and a rabbit emerging from a magician’s hat. You’ll also hear the various sounds associated with classic video slots: coins tinkling, reels whirring, and so on.

Gameplay journey: 4/5

I enjoyed playing Joker’s Million. Here’s how my journey unfolded:

  • I set my bet size to $2 per spin and hit the play button. On my first spin, I won $6, so I made a flying start. However, a losing streak then ensued, and I was down by $27.80 after playing for a few minutes. However, this slot has a medium-high volatility rate, so I was braced to endure some barren spells.
  • I then earned a $35.20 win, which was exciting, as it moved me back into profit. A couple of minutes later, I landed a $118 win, followed swiftly by a $25.80 win.
  • The reels spin very quickly in this game, so I was playing at a rapid pace. After playing for around 10 minutes, I was up by $143.20. I kept spinning, and I found that I enjoyed the risk-reward balance. The losing streaks were never particularly prolonged, and I secured reasonably big wins on a pretty regular basis.
  • After playing for half an hour, I was up by just $13.60, and I hadn’t tried out the gamble feature yet, so I decided to give it a go. I had won $23.40, and I had the chance to double it by guessing the right color or quadruple it by guessing the correct suit. I guessed black, and seven of spades appeared, so I doubled my money to $46.80. However, the next two times I tried gambling, I lost.
  • When I’d been playing for 45 minutes, I was up by $12.40, so I decided it was time for a break.
  • I returned to Joker’s Million an hour later. This time I used my iPhone, and I thought the design still looked sharp. It was easy to see all the features on the smaller screen. I set my bet size to $2 once again, and began spinning.
  • A similar pattern ensued. I would go several spins without a win but then land a big payout. A couple of minutes into my second session, I won $90. That put me up by $78 for the session, and $90.40 overall.
  • I kept earning pretty strong wins throughout this session, but the losses also stacked up, and I was down by $30 overall after playing for another 30 minutes. However, I persisted, and I racked up some decent payouts.
  • By the time I had spun the reels 1,600 times, I had narrowed my losses to $12.40, so I decided it was time to end the session.

Bonus features through my eyes: 3/5

Joker’s Million is a pretty basic game, which should appeal to fans of classic slot machines. All the action takes place in the base game, so there are no free spins rounds, bonus games, progressive jackpots, or bonus buy features. However, there are a few interesting bonus features, which help to dial up the excitement during the base game. Here is a full breakdown:

Feature Description Impact on Gameplay
Expanded wilds The joker is the wild symbol on this slot. She substitutes for all other symbols, apart from the scatter, and she can appear on reels 2, 3, or 4.

This wild symbol can expand to cover all four rows on a particular reel. That seriously enhances your prospects of securing substantial wins.
The joker symbol expanded regularly when I played this game. That helped me secure my best wins. I thought the design and animations were excellent, and this was a rewarding feature.
Stacked symbols Stacked symbols can cover part of a reel or an entire reel. There can be between two and eight stacked symbols, and this also helps you form big wins. These stacked symbols also appeared frequently when I played Joker’s Million. They led to some decent wins, so I was always excited to see them.
Gamble round You can gamble your winnings by clicking the playing card button.

There are two options: guess the right color to double your winnings, or guess the right suit to quadruple them.
A card will then be turned over, revealing the result. If you guess incorrectly, you lose your money.

You can continue to play double or nothing with your winnings if you'd like. The gambling mini-game doesn't end until you hit the collect button or guess incorrectly.
I tried this a few times. On my first attempt, I managed to double my money. However, I lost my next few attempts, and I gave it up. To be honest, I didn’t find a great deal of value in this bonus feature.

Balancing risk and reward: 4/5

I was pretty happy with the risk-reward ratio when playing Joker’s Million. The average online slot has a 96% RTP rate, so the 97.34% rate on this game is well above average.

The medium-high volatility rate may deter players that like the low level of variance associated with classic fruit-themed slots. However, I personally enjoyed it. Yes, I endured some painful losing streaks, but I also managed to secure pretty big wins on a reasonably regular basis. It never felt like I had to wait too long before another decent payout arrived.

Overall, I incurred a slight loss after playing the game for almost two hours, but there were several opportunities for me to quit while I was comfortably ahead.

The good and bad of Joker’s Million

While I enjoyed Joker’s Millions, I identified a few potential drawbacks. These are the key pros and cons I experienced.

  • This is an attractive slot with a terrific soundtrack and slick animations. It taps into nostalgia for the old mechanical slots while providing a fresh twist on the genre.
  • Joker’s Million has an impressive RTP rate, and it offers the chance to win up to 3,000x your bet if you land five Triple 7 symbols.
  • There are 100 paylines, which offers lots of potential ways to win.
  • The medium-high variance won’t suit everyone, especially players that like grinding out small, reasonably regular wins on old-school slots.
  • You can’t trigger free spins, re-spins, or bonus games, and the slot doesn’t have a progressive jackpot either.
  • Some players may grow bored by the lack of variety in the gameplay.

Final Thoughts on Joker’s Million

Joker’s Million has a lot of redeeming features. The RTP rate is attractive, the volatility is reasonably balanced, and you can win up to 3,000x your bet. It’s a beautifully designed game with an excellent soundtrack, and the action unfolds at a rapid pace.

I’d recommend this online slot if you’re seeking straightforward gameplay and a strong risk-reward balance. That said, Joker’s Million can grow a little repetitive, as there are no bonus rounds, so it might be best enjoyed in short bursts rather than prolonged sessions.

Final Score: 4/5
