Hawaii Riches is bringing the sun, sea, and sand to players nationwide. I’m always ready for a vacation, so this felt like the perfect time to take one for the team and give it a try.
I’ve played a range of beach-themed slots before, but 3 Oaks Gaming promised to stand out with its Bonus Bank topline. So I did what any other sun-loving slot critic would: I donned a flower garland and prepared to watch the waves roll in.
This Hawaii Riches review shares my opinion on the game’s graphics, bonus features, and overall gameplay.
First Impressions with Hawaii Riches
There are very few differences between the most idyllic Hawaiian vacation and this 3 Oaks slot game. Looking out on a sparkling ocean view and blue skies, the only thing missing was the heat of the sun on my face.
However, while Hawaii Riches might have given me a taste of paradise, its gameplay remained familiar with a simple five-reel, four-row grid.
It was easy to set my bet limit using the coin icon at the bottom right of the screen. I then hit the autoplay button to kick things off. However, I soon noticed this function was unusually fast and made the game difficult to follow. I reverted back to hitting the space bar pretty early on.
The Bonus Bank board above the main grid was immediately apparent. This contained 20 extra rewards, which hit a maximum of x300. I hit an instant win prize almost straight away, but it took a little longer to unlock the full Bonus Back feature.

Most beach-themed slots stick to a simple seascape, so I was impressed by the smaller details in Hawaii Riches. I could look out at sailboats and mountains in the distance, and I occasionally saw a seabird soaring through the skies.
Hawaii Riches doesn’t have too many in-play animations, but I liked how the reels lit up whenever Bonus Bank symbols were in play. I’m a big fan of a good sunset, so I was also pleased to see gorgeous oranges and reds flood the screen in the Free Spins round.
If I was to be really critical, the design team could have done more to bring the female Hawaiian character to life. I saw some great animations from Play’n GO in Midnight Gold, and a similar concept could have been added to Hawaii Riches.

Get the full vacation experience from the Hawaii Riches soundtrack. This tropical tune was nicely accompanied by the sound of jingling coins whenever I hit the Bonus Bank feature.
Hawaii Riches doesn’t have any particularly wild musical effects, but the soundtrack did add to the overall ambiance.
Gameplay Journey: 4/5
Hawaii Riches is a beautifully-themed game that’s largely centered around its Bonus Bank feature. I enjoyed the tropical getaway story and the chance to hit extra prizes, but I found that the overall gameplay journey was a little basic.
- Theme: It’s not often I get the chance to hit the beach, but Hawaii Riches gave me the perfect excuse. Complete with polished graphics and a stunning color scheme, it was easy to forget I was watching the view through a screen.
- Features: Hawaii Riches revolves around the Bonus Bank feature, so it felt like I’d skipped the base game and headed straight into the bonus round at times. This made gameplay way more exciting. The Free Spins round was hard to come by, but it added an extra layer of winning potential to the reels.
- Mechanics: Following a basic five-reel grid, it was easy to understand the Hawaii Riches mechanics. The Autoplay function was good, but I couldn’t set a spin limit. This meant it was difficult to keep track of the number of spins I’d played, and I had to hit the ‘Stop’ button to pause play. This function was also unusually fast and sent my head into a bit of a spin.

Hawaii Riches is a medium-variance title with an RTP of 95.57%. It’s perfect for players who want a middle-ground gameplay experience. I like that decent prizes come around fairly often.
I started to hit smaller Bonus Bank rewards pretty quickly in demo mode, but larger prizes were harder to come by. I experienced one decent win of $26.30 on a $0.50 spin. Most others were $5 or less.
This game balances the size of its jackpots with a workable hit frequency. Its RTP isn’t the highest, but I found it good enough to give the game a try.
The Good and Bad of Hawaii Riches

Hawaii Riches is perfect for players in the mood for a vacation. I loved the beachy theme, and the soundtrack made me feel like I was sipping piña coladas under the sun.
The Bonus Bank feature added a much-needed level of excitement, and the free spins round could be lucrative. That said, I struggled to unlock it, so that was disappointing.
I’ll definitely be coming back to this 3 Oaks Gaming title when I need my next dose of vitamin D.
