Do you the 1980s game show Press Your Luck? Well, there’s a new slot by Everi that features those pesky Whammies from the show, and Caesars Palace is one of the first US online casinos to offer it.
If you’re too young to the ’80s, you may be more familiar with the show’s 2019 reboot, hosted by Elizabeth Banks.
Press Your Luck: Whammy Wilds is already available at Caesars sites across all its North American markets: Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and even Ontario, Canada.
The game show’s premise was that contestants had to answer trivia questions to earn spins. The spins themselves were the most exciting part, as contestants hoped for big prizes and most importantly, to avoid the Whammy. Some strategy was involved, such as ing spins or deciding to keep playing. It was a risk-reward conundrum for players.
“Come on, big money, no Whammies,” was a common refrain from the players.
There’s no trivia in Press Your Luck: Whammy Wilds, but the excitement of spinning and the chance at “big money” are there. You won’t be hoping for “no Whammies,” though, because in this game they’re Wilds and come with a prize multiplier, so you want all the Whammies you can get.
But is it any good? To answer that question, I took the liberty of trying out the game for myself.

Big Money… YES, Whammies!
Everi Digital announced that the game had a $100,000 jackpot, which was the largest in its history. Not only that, but it’s an all-ways-pay slot with 243 paylines.

For me, the bet multiplier went up to 5x, starting at $3.75 per spin. Thus, at x5, it went to $18.75.
Within just four spins, I landed the Press Your Luck Bonus.
This happened by landing three Press Your Luck bonus symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5.
When this triggered, I kept spinning to try to fill up the board. I nailed two additional bonus spins before filling up the board and winning $446.02 on a $3.75 spin.
The board that would appear was reminiscent of that from the game show in which a player hit a buzzer to stop the spin and hope to avoid a Whammy. Instead, with this slot, you’re hoping to fill up the board each spin to maximize your winnings.
Several symbols are to be aware of, including cherries, a bar symbol, a bell, two variations of a “7,” a stack of coins, a stack of money, a diamond, and seven jackpot progressive symbols. The top is Tier 1 Progressive, with a maximum value of $100,000 (or, well, technically $99,999.99).
There’s also Whammy Wilds, Whammy Wheel Bonus, and Big Bucks Bonus, in addition to the Press Your Luck Bonus to be aware of. Here’s how you can think of each of these:
- Whammy Wilds: Coin symbols turn into wilds with 2x–4x multipliers to boost regular wins (but not bonuses).
- Whammy Wheel Bonus: A losing spin with a Coin may trigger a wheel for jackpots or extra spins, with up to 2 spins per round.
- Press Your Luck Bonus: Spin 16 reels to lock in prizes and jackpots, avoiding blanks. If you land all 16, there’s bigger rewards.
- Big Bucks Bonus: Spin a prize wheel for massive credit wins up to 20,000x, with possible nudges to higher values.
Additionally, there’s an auto-spin feature that allows you to move in increments of 0, 10, 25, 50, and 100.
There’s also a Quick Play toggle, but I didn’t notice anything different when using it.
One great feature I discovered was the game history tab. This allowed me to see the results of my five most recent spins.
My Press Your Luck: Whammy Wild Experience
Overall, I had fun with this game. The graphics have a unique style that brings the Whammy to life in a modern way. The game is also muted until you spin, and the music and sound effects aren’t overbearing.
Seeing the Whammy Wheel Bonus piggybank fill up as I spun and added to it was entertaining. Eventually, it got cracks in it, and I started sweating. From there, it turned red, expanded, and sweated even more.
I made it my mission to break the piggybank and eventually did.
After it broke, I was able to spin the wheel for my chance at one of the seven jackpots. I landed on Mini, the smallest jackpot, and earned $121.57.
Little additions such as this piggybank expanding and waiting for it to break build anticipation and make the final spin that finally cracks it all the more satisfying.
