Boyd Gaming’s most well-known properties are land-based casinos, but the company is now making a play to have a larger presence online. Pala Interactive is the substance of that play.
Boyd has entered into an agreement to acquire Pala. The online gambling company’s creations could soon augment Stardust Casino and Boyd Sports.
Pala Interactive sells to Boyd
According to a Pala Interactive. The Pala Band of Mission Indians launched Pala Interactive in 2013.
Since then, Pala Interactive has built out a full suite of products for online gaming. That includes not only table games but management services for online gambling as well.
Currently, online casinos and online poker operators in eight states use some Pala Interactive products. Additionally, Ontario recently licensed Pala Interactive as a vendor for operator licensees in the province.
“Our tribe was at the forefront in creating an online gaming platform,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
“We brought together the best minds in the business to build and ultimately transact, what has become a very successful business.”
While this points toward an expansion of Boyd’s online gaming business, Boyd hasn’t confirmed that. At the very least, Pala Interactive’s portfolio should make its current offerings more robust.
Boyd Sports, Stardust Casino additions?
Currently, Boyd’s online offerings revolve around two main products. The first of those is Boyd Sports, the online sportsbook available in Nevada. The other is Stardust Casino, available in New Jersey.
With this acquisition, Boyd could make the menu of games available on the Stardust Casino app and website larger. Additionally, Boyd could use Pala Interactive software to improve Boyd Sports.
With the respective licenses that Pala Interactive holds, though, Boyd could get even more ambitious. Regardless of the direction, this acquisition deepens Boyd’s investment in the online space.
