The Las Vegas Strip is one of the most iconic tourist spots in the world, but the city is more than just hotels and resorts. People do actually live in Las Vegas, and that’s who Red Rock Resorts is targeting with a new Wildfire Las Vegas casino. Red Rock is a prominent operator of many US casinos looking to expand its presence in Vegas.
That expansion will begin with its new construction on Fremont Street. Red Rock intends to transfer its “convenient, local” strategy to a brand new part of Sin City.
New Wildfire Las Vegas casino on the way
If you’re asking yourself, wait, aren’t there already Wildfire casinos in Las Vegas? Then you’re absolutely right. The properties on Rancho Drive and Valley View Boulevard bear the Wildfire branding.
In fact, Red Rock operates five Wildfire properties in Henderson as well. According to Daniel Kline of The Street, Red Rock aims to “double its presence in the greater Las Vegas area.” The new construction on Fremont Street is part of that plan.
The Fremont Street property will stick to Wildfire’s approach of intimate venues. Wildfire’s marketing has always focused on serving locals with amenities like a bowling alley and casual dining on top of the gambling options.
Eli Segall of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the $750 million facility will occupy just about 21,000 square feet. The location is just south of Charleston Boulevard and was the former site of Castaways.
The reference to Castaways is something that Las Vegas locals will be more familiar with than tourists. Red Rock’s approach is to bring some of the high-end treatment that tourists get on the Strip to Fremont Street for those locals.
Downtown as a Vegas destination
A shift in the aesthetic and vibe of Fremont Street was already underway prior to Red Rock’s entry. It began with the debut of Circa, which opened in December 2020, bringing a modern full-scale resort to the area.
Since then, the El Cortez Hotel just off Fremont Street has invested $25 million into a major renovation. Now, the new Wildfire property could bring even more of the adult-oriented, high-class gaming entertainment feel the Strip is famous for to downtown.
