Not everyone is on the up and up when it comes to gambling. Unfortunately, some people would rather cheat than win fair and square.
We analyzed Google search to determine which cities are looking for ways to cheat. According to our analysis, Las Vegas topped the list. It looks like many people there would prefer to try and pull off their own watered-down version of Ocean’s Eleven. Other curious cheaters apparently live in Denver, Seattle, Baltimore and Boston.
What kind of cheats are they looking to pull off?
Off the 50 related we analyzed, we’d recommend casinos keep an even closer eye on the slot machines and blackjack tables. Here’s a small sample of what they’re searching for:

New York City tops the list for the most honest gamblers. Houston does not have a problem and is ranked second just ahead of Chicago (third).
Which cities search the most about gambling?
Whether you’re planning your first trip to Las Vegas or just want to hone your poker skills at home, chances are that you have a gambler’s mindset. But which cities in the US are the most eager to learn, play and brush up on their skills?
We analyzed Google search volume of more than 400 related to games like poker, roulette and slots in order to determine which cities search about gambling the most.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Las Vegas ranks No. 1 on the list of cities that search the most about gambling. People in Las Vegas search Google the most for answers about the rules of gambling games. Vegas was followed by Baltimore and Denver.
In arguably the two biggest gambling cities (Las Vegas and Atlantic City), people want to know how to play casino games. The top search in Las Vegas is “how to play craps” and the top search in Atlantic City is “how to play roulette.”
When it comes to specific gambling games, the top game across the US is poker. It’s the most popular game in 24 states including a chunk of the Midwest! Blackjack was a winner in 10 states and seven are betting on Keno.
Nevada was one of only 4 states that would prefer to roll dice. Americans also wonder “how much are face cards worth in Blackjack?” and what “poker odds to memorize.”
Top gambling searches by state
When searching for gambling games, Americans in many states are looking for the rules. The top searches in more than half of the US (26 states) were about how to play games like Texas Hold’em, Caribbean stud poker and craps.
However, other states are a lot more competitive. Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana and West Virginia all are asking Google how to win games like slots, video poker and Keno. Oklahoma specifically searches for “how to win at a casino with $20.”
Methodology
For this report, we analyzed Google search volume of 458 related to gambling games such as “best slots to play,” “how to win roulette in casino,” and “poker tips and tricks” over the period of May 2020 to May 2022. We also analyzed 50 related to cheating such as “how to cheat in poker” and “card counting.”
Total search volume during this period was then calculated per capita and visualized per 100,000. For this report, we also analyzed the most disproportionately popular Google search . We compared each state’s search results to the national average in order to determine which search term has a higher search volume when compared to the national average. This method of analysis allows us to even the playing field between smaller states with lower populations or a lower search volume (such as Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, etc.) and states with a large population with higher search volume (California, Texas, Florida, etc.).
