Resorts World Las Vegas and Sightline Payments announced the launch of its second-generation cashless gambling technology.
In a statement released Tuesday, Nevada-based casino resorts operator said Sightline’s update improves functionality while enhancing the omnichannel consumer journey.
Resorts World Las Vegas becomes the first resort to launch the next generation of cashless new functionalities. It is also the first Nevada casino to allow its guests to enroll, and fund from anywhere in a few minutes. The update also includes the following functionalities:
- remote identity verification
- enrollment for loyalty and payments
- biometric authentication
- a single “digital wallet” experience
Before remote identity verification, Nevada casino players could not use their s for cashless gaming until a resort staff member verified their ID.
Bringing the “best possible” cashless gambling experience to players
Commenting on the partnership, Omer Sattar, Co-CEO of Sightline said:
“We applaud Resorts World Las Vegas for being so forward thinking, for working so diligently to create the best possible experience, and for driving the whole industry forward. Groundbreaking technology builds on itself and this 2nd generation makes cashless gaming more accessible and a better overall experience for patrons. We look forward to working with Resorts World Las Vegas on future generations.”
Resorts World Las Vegas says the payment provider’s petition led to its ability to use Sightline’s remote identity verification. It successfully petitioned the Nevada Gaming Commission to change the state’s gaming regulations.
When it re-opened in June 2021 after COVID-19 pandemic closures, Resorts World Las Vegas was among the first to allow its visitors to pay for anything onsite through their mobile devices. Players could use their phones to pay for play on slot machines and table games along with purchases at retail shops and various kinds of entertainment.
The Resorts World and Sightline cooperation is tied with continued input from the Nevada Gaming Control Board‘s Technology Division and Gaming Laboratories International‘s independent testing.
Sightline’s technology available on Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app
Sightline’s technology is now fully available on the Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app. It comes with a cashless wallet featuring biometrics for enhanced security.
Thanks to the new technology, players no longer have to go through a two-step process to fund their digital wallets and pay cashless.
This process simplifies the experience by allowing players to spend their funds from a single wallet.
Rick Hutchins, SVP Casino Operators at Resorts World Las Vegas said:
“We knew when we launched the Mobile+ and Play+ technology it would be an iterative process as we would continue to make enhancements and improvements along the way for our guests.
Today, we’ve dramatically lessened the time and hassle for those who want to take advantage of cashless gaming and enroll in Genting Rewards when they visit our resort. I’m thrilled we’re at the forefront of simplifying the process for our guests by giving them more time to focus on what they came here to do: enjoy themselves.”
More casinos to offer cashless payments
Las Vegas has been at the epicenter of the cashless gaming revolution more than once. It also happened when International Game Technology (IGT) teamed up with Station Casinos to bring cashless gaming to six Nevada casinos.
Likewise, when the president of Global Payments Inc, Chris Justice, spoke with Bryan Horwath of the Las Vegas Sun, he shared his expectation for cashless gaming.
More than a month ago, Justice said he expects 90% of US casinos to feature some form of a cashless solution for payments on a casino floor.
He also emphasized that cashless options deliver data that can help casino operators and gambling regulators understand problem gambling better.
