It’s renovation season for Monarch Casino & Resort.
The small casino operator recently finished up renovations at their Black Hawk, Colorado property. In the company’s Q3 earnings call this week, CEO John Farahi revealed that the company plans to make big changes to its Reno property, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.
“We are planning a renovation of the second Atlantis hotel tower early in 2023, as well as several other capital projects, which will ensure that the Atlantis remains Reno’s preferred destination for casino resort gaming entertainment,” Farahi said.
Monarch is riding a bit of a high, as it posted record operating results this past quarter.
Atlantis Casino Resort has plans for renovation of second hotel tower
Monarch plans to kick off a slew of construction projects at Atlantis in 2023. The primary upgrade will be a renovation of the property’s second hotel tower.
The move comes after the company completed renovations in its existing tower. Guests loved the upgrades, Farahi said, and it’s possible the benefits of that move gave Monarch’s execs all the more reason to overhaul the second tower.
“Atlantis continues to deliver strong results,” Farahi said.”Our primary focus remains the ongoing enhancement of the property. Guests’ response to the recently upgraded and redesigned rooms in the first hotel tower has been very positive.”
In addition to the recent room upgrades, Atlantis also recently opened an “upscale” retail space.
The upgrades and future plans should only add to Atlantis’ mystique. The high-end property has earned the top spot in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of Reno resorts and hotels for the past two years.
“We take great pride in our ability to consistently offer guests an enjoyable and memorable experience,” Cheraz Ecker, general manager of Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, said earlier this year about finishing #1. “From our world-class spa to our all-new luxury penthouse suites, we’re committed to providing the latest and greatest amenities that complement our unmatched guest service.”
Monarch rides wave of property upgrades, hints at third property
Farahi spent a significant amount of time detailing the successes Monarch has experienced as a result of its push to improve its two casino resort properties.
Monarch doesn’t necessarily want to bring all customers through its doors. Rather, it’s focused on attracting the market’s “most valuable customers,” particularly at its Ameristar Black Hawk property.
“In Black Hawk, we continue to gain a greater share of the market’s most valuable customers,” Farahi said. “Given the property’s upscale design and amenities, we believe we have a long runway ahead to fully unlock its potential.”
Perhaps lost in all the discussion of Monarch’s success at Black Hawk and Ameristar is this nugget from the CEO:
“We continue to look for opportunities to bring our success in Reno and Black Hawk to a new market and will move aggressively when the right opportunity presents itself.”
However, Farahi didn’t say where Monarch is looking and when they plan to strike.
