The gaming gods and goddesses were smiling on Pennsylvania online casinos this past month.

The state’s online casinos roared back from a slow June to post $215.4 million in revenue this past month, according to data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. July’s healthy numbers were the third highest in state history and mark the fifth time in the past six months Pennsylvania iGaming revenue has eclipsed $200 million

Key takeaways

  • Pennsylvania online casinos posted their third-highest monthly revenue total ever in July at $215.4 million.
  • July’s revenue increased 10.1% over June.
  • Preque Isle and bet365 debuted an online casino this past month.

Valley Forge drives $20 million leap in monthly revenue

If there was an MVP from this past month’s PA iGaming revenue report, it was Valley Forge online casino. The operator brought in $56.7 million this past month, second only to Penn National. Month-on-month, revenue rose 22.5%, increasing more than $10 million. Valley Forge’s improvement ed for more than half of the state’s entire online casino revenue increase in July.

Penn National and Golden Nugget also played important roles in July’s numbers. The former saw revenue rise $5.3 million month over month, while the latter saw an increase of $1 million.

Year-on-year revenue sees astronomical growth

As impressive as July’s monthly numbers were, one could argue the year-on-year figures were even better. Compared to July 2023, PA iGaming revenue shot up from $157.1 million in July 2023 to $215.4 million this past month.

2024 2023 % change
July $215,376,211 $157,094,874 37.10%
June $195,603,854 $164,312,287 19.04%
May $216,491,295 $170,390,947 27.06%
April $212,212,613 $167,267,761 26.87%
March $233,087,603 $181,528,950 28.40%
February $215,288,753 $162,310,430 32.64%
January $189,302,559 $160,341,330 18.06%

Year-on-year, Pennsylvania online casino revenue has risen by double-digits every month in 2024. July’s impressive rise was due in part to Presque Isle launching bet365 Casino. The new online casino generated $1.1 million this past month.

Yet even after subtracting Presque Isle’s revenue from this past month’s total, revenue was up 36.4% and $57.2 million year on year.

What’s ahead for Pennsylvania online casinos?

Pennsylvania is the undisputed leader in U.S. online casino revenue. It’s the only state of the seven with legal iGaming to sur $200 million more than once, let alone the six times the Keystone State has eclipsed the double-century mark.

As we head into the end of the summer, it’s possible that revenue will not drop below $200 million again until next summer. In 2023, Pennsylvania online casino revenue shot up in August and didn’t look back.

If 2023’s July-to-August trend holds up next month, online casino revenue should $220 million for only the second time in state history.
