Many casinos like the Mohegan Sun Pocono usually offer much more in the vein of entertainment than gambling to cater to a broad audience. That’s exactly what the Pennsylvania tribal casino is ready to expand upon later this month.

The casino will open a new recreational space and two new dining options soon. It’s part of a more comprehensive makeover of the property that is currently ongoing.

Mohegan Sun Pocono announces openings

According to a Pennsylvania casino guests in “late April.” The three additions are:

  • A new outdoor terrace bar called Embers Terrace
  • The Hive TapHouse, a new restaurant
  • Topgolf Swing Suites

The release says that Embers Terrace offers Adirondack seating, dining options, fire pits, and live weekend entertainment. Topgolf Swing Suites are a collaboration that brings virtual gaming to patrons, with more options besides the Topgolf games like baseball- and hockey-themed titles.

In the former Bar Louie space, the Hive TapHouse will feature 20 beers on tap, a full menu, and live music. That space won’t open until “early summer,” however.

These are the latest details of what the operators – the Mohegan Tribe – call Project Starlight. The Mohegan Tribe operates seven tribal casinos spread between six US states and Canada.

“These capital improvements as part of Project Starlight represent some of the most thrilling enhancements that we have ever announced at MSP,” said Anthony Carlucci, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun Pocono.

“These offerings will not only bolster our live entertainment, but they also bring a relaxing and fun-filled outdoor experience as well as an amazing Topgolf Swing Suite venue. All 238 of our hotel rooms will have a whole new look and feel by the end of the year as well.”

As Carlucci alluded to, Project Starlight is a lot more involved than just these amenities. Staying at the casino will soon have a refreshing feel.

Mohegan Tribe spending millions on hotel renovation

The release states that the Mohegan Tribe is spending $10 million to renovate its entire complement of 238 guest rooms at this casino. The makeover of all rooms will entail:

  • New bathrooms
  • Updated design
  • Upgraded amenities

“We’ve already modeled a couple of rooms so far and the difference is remarkable,” Carlucci added.

“We’re confident that our guests are going to really love it.”

The release states that the renovations should finish by the end of this year. Guests to the casino in Wilkes Barre won’t have to wait that long to sample the new amenities Project Starlight is offering, though. They can start doing that later this month.
