Pennsylvania Online Gambling Revenue Best In US For March

Pennsylvania online casinos recorded a massive $181.5 million in March revenue, a record for any US state operating online casinos.

According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), monthly gaming revenue in the Keystone State exceeded half a billion dollars for the first time.

Online gambling in Pennsylvania set a new record generating a massive $181.5 million in revenue throughout March.

During the month, the total tax revenue collected through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $212.4 million.

Pennsylvania online casino revenue breaks another record

In March, Pennsylvania online casinos and sports betting operators generated a gigantic $181.5 million in revenue. The figure is a record for any US online casino state, topping Pennsylvania’s December 2022’s record of $166.9 million.

March revenue numbers also represent a significant increase from this year’s previous months. Online casinos generated $162.3 million in February and $160.3 million in January.

Here’s a breakdown of the $181.5 million revenue generated in March:

  • Online slots revenue: $138.2 million
  • Table games revenue: $40.5 million
  • Online poker revenue: $2.9 million

Hollywood Penn National as the top earner

Among the state’s 17 operators, these were the most successful online casinos in March:

  1. Hollywood Penn National generated $76.7 million in total revenue
  2. Rivers Philadelphia collected $38.5 million in revenue
  3. Valley Forge took nearly $37.2 million

Pennsylvania gaming revenue exceeds $515.3 million

The combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming during March brought in $515.3 million. The figure is an 11.35% year-over-year increase compared to revenue generated in March 2022.

The revenue includes income from:

  • Slot machines
  • Table games
  • Internet gaming
  • Sports betting,
  • Fantasy contests
  • Video gaming terminals (VGTs)

March revenue by game type

Retail slots revenue remained the primary gambling revenue source in the state with $225.4 million, almost a 5% year-over-year increase. Revenue from online gambling was $104.8 million, with over a 32% YOY growth. However, retail table games revenue decreased almost 9% from last year, totaling $85.9 million.

Sports betting revenue increased 60% year-over-year in March, reaching $50.6 million.

Meanwhile, video gaming terminal revenue saw a nearly 2% decline at $3.8 million. Fantasy sports revenue showed a slight yearly increase (0.59%) of $1.4 million.
