While it’s still uncertain whether Texans will get the opportunity to legally bet on Dallas Stars games anytime in the near future, their access to Jackpocket‘s lottery ticket courier is in the legal clear. To wit, those parties are now working together for cross-promotional purposes.

As usual, Jackpocket is giving away lottery tickets commemorating the new partnership. Jackpocket might not be the only gambling sponsor of the Stars for long if things go the right way in Austin over the next few months.

Jackpocket, Stars align for marketing purposes

The Stars are just part of a growing constellation of professional sports teams with which Jackpocket has similar deals. The lottery courier service counts several MLB and NBA franchises among its other partners.

These deals are simple in their premise. In exchange for some cash from Jackpocket, the Stars in this case make Jackpocket their “official digital lottery courier” and give them some advertising during game presentations.

According to a press release, Jackpocket is also letting new app s who use the code “STARS” during checkout get their first lottery ticket on the house. Stars fans can try to win some special experiences through the app as well.

The timing of this deal is somewhat intriguing as well. Texas gambling could be about to see some major expansion and the Stars might be part of it.

Could Stars expand on gambling partnerships soon?

According to Stars CEO Brad Alberts, gambling expansion in Texas should soon go on a sort of power play. Alberts says he fully expects the state legislature to consider a bill that would legalize sports betting in the state in the 2023 session.

Should that ever occur, it might open the door for the Stars to be involved in some way. The details of the legislation would dictate exactly how. At the very least, though, the Stars could probably form some of official sportsbook partnership akin to their lottery deal with Jackpocket.

Considering this partnership with Jackpocket and Alberts’ comments, the Stars are definitely interested in such a deal. In fact, counting on them to do exactly that should the opportunity arise seems as surefire as scoring on an open net.
