Atlantic City is getting another sportsbook.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City is expected to open its sportsbook in early 2019.

According to a press release, Hard Rock International has signed Malta-based Gaming Innovation Group Inc. (GiG), to provide an “omnichannel sportsbook solution.”

In October, the company announced a letter of intent to provide the service to Hard Rock as its first American customer. This is after it spent two years developing the platform.

The two companies already work together on internet gambling.

The deal includes online wagering, over-the-counter sports betting and self-service terminals at Hard Rock.

“The forthcoming launch of the Hard Rock Sportsbook in New Jersey will mark another step toward becoming a significant player in the national and international sports betting and online gaming industry,” said Kresimir Spajic, senior vice president of online gaming at Hard Rock International, in a statement.

Many different betting destinations in Atlantic City

Hard Rock will Ocean Resort Casino, Golden Nugget, Bally’s Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City and Tropicana Atlantic City as properties that offer New Jersey sports betting in Atlantic City.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported $260,711,301 million in sports betting handle in October. This makes for a total of $597,368,230 in just more than four months. Of that total, $300,949,824 came online.

There was a recent update of the NFL’s policy on commercial gaming. It lifted the restriction on Hard Rock’s future sportsbook operation in Atlantic City.

Casinos and sportsbooks can now be NFL naming rights partners. Hard Rock International became the Miami Dolphins stadium naming partner in 2016 when the two signed an 18-year agreement.

More coming from the Hard Rock and GiG

GiG will provide Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City with GiG Sports Connect, GiG Trader and GiG Goal, which entails over-the-counter wagering, kiosks online via desktop and mobile services.

GiG already provides platforms for Hard Rock’s website and online casino that went live July 13.

“I am proud and delighted to have signed this agreement with our partner Hard Rock, our first inroad to sports betting in the exciting US market,” GiG CEO Robin Reed said in a release. “It also headlines our continually strengthening partnership with Hard Rock across our iGaming ecosystem.

The statement said there is potential for Hard Rock and GiG to expand their partnership in other states.

“We are positive that the extension of our partnership with GiG together with ‘skin’ partnerships with leading international operators will enable Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City to reach its ultimate goal of becoming New Jersey’s sports betting and online gaming market leader,” Spajic said.
