JACK Entertainment LLC announced this week that Greektown Casino-Hotel’s transition to the new JACK Detroit Casino-Hotel is now underway. Additionally, the company said it expects the transition to be complete on May 1, 2018.

The Greektown Casino-Hotel first opened in November 2000. It remains one of only three commercial casino properties in Detroit and the entire state of Michigan. The other two properties are the MotorCity Casino Hotel and MGM Grand Detroit.

Get to know JACK

JACK Entertainment is the rebranding of Quicken Loans and Cleveland Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert‘s Rock Gaming. It acquired the Greektown Casino-Hotel in 2013. In February 2016, the company announced it would be rebranding and renaming the property the JACK Detroit Casino Hotel Greektown by the end of 2016.

JACK Entertainment has its headquarters in Detroit. According to the company, the JACK name represents a progressive and rebellious attitude.

The plan is to bring together all of the company’s gaming interests under one brand. Plus, the properties would come together under a single player loyalty and rewards program.

In 2016, JACK Entertainment bought out partner Ohio gambling institutions. These included Horseshoe Cleveland, Horseshoe Cincinnati and the ThistleDown Racino.

These three properties are now JACK Cleveland Casino, JACK Cincinnati Casino, and JACK Thistledown Racino.

The Greektown Casino-Hotel rebranding

The final phase of the plan is now underway. For example, a 1,500-unit exterior and interior signage package is being installed. This includes a sign that spans the width of the hotel’s rooftop. This new exterior sign is being lifted by helicopter to the top of the 30-story hotel and casino building and installed on Saturday, Sept. 30.

“Detroit is JACK’s hometown and we want to make a big splash with our new brand and the casino’s dramatically expanded new dining and entertainment offerings,” JACK Entertainment CEO Matt Cullen said in a release. “Our entire team is eager to introduce all that’s new to the city and our guests.”

In addition to the new signage, the Michigan casino will also be finishing up a multimillion-dollar eating area renovation. The former Market District will transform into Monroe Market. This new dining area will feature six new fast-casual eateries. A new bar is under construction as well.

The Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit’s Greektown Historic District currently features 100,000-square feet of gaming floor space. This includes almost 3,000 casino slot games, a wide variety of table games and a 12-table live poker room.
