Global Poker running an online tournament series filled with turbo and hyper-turbo events this month.

The Rapido tournament series on Global Poker kicked off Monday, June 18. It will run for two weeks and feature 42 turbo and hyper-turbo events, many of which are six-max and four-max tournaments.

There are No-Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and No-Limit Crazy Pineapple tournaments. Buy-ins range from SC$11 to SC$110.

Finally, the series culminates with the SC$110 Rapido Main Event running Sunday, July 1 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. It comes with a lofty SC$20,000 guarantee.

$160,000 in guaranteed prize money

In fact, Global Poker has guaranteed SC$160,000 across the entire turbo tournament series. Plus, the site has bumped up the guarantees on all its regularly-scheduled hyper-turbo tournaments, including Breakfast Epiphanies, Eyes Wide Shut, and Lunch Money.

The entire Global Poker Rapido tournament schedule is available on Global Poker.

Global Poker is able to offer online poker to customers inside the US because of its own patented sweepstakes model.

The sweepstakes model works by only allowing people to buy in to cash games and tournaments on the site with Global Poker’s own form of virtual currency. The virtual currency becomes cash when withdrawn.

Again, players don’t buy into Global Poker tournaments and cash games with real money. Instead, they buy Gold Coins, which are available only through PayPal and come with bonus sweepstakes prizes called $weeps Cash. $weeps Cash is used to buy into $weeps Cash tournaments and ring games.

All $weeps Cash accumulated can be cashed out and converted to cash through PayPal.

There are also Gold Coin tournaments and cash games on the site as well. However, Gold Coins cannot be converted into real money.

Global Poker growth

An Australian company called VGW Holdings Limited owns and operates the site. It’s the same company that runs Chumba Casino social casino. Global Poker launched in 2016 with a focus on customers in the US and is growing exponentially in this space.

It appears to be one of the only options for online poker players in the US outside of New Jersey, Pennsylvania’s online gambling market is not likely to launch real-money online poker before late 2018 or early 2019.

Meanwhile, Global Poker keeps growing.

The 2018 Global Poker Rattlesnake Open ran April 30 to May 20 featuring 135 tournaments and more than SC$1,250,000 guaranteed.

Kevin “BUYMEDINNER” Pahl sat atop the series leaderboard when the festivities wrapped up, earning a $5,000 live tournament package.

Pahl will reportedly be using the $5,000 to play at the 2018 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has his eye on the 2018 WSOP $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em MONSTER STACK event beginning on June 23. Additionally, he’s planning to play in the Wynn Summer Classic $1,100 buy-in $1 million guaranteed event on June 28.
