Super Bowl LVII is just a few days away and a lot of businesses looking to get in on Ohio sports betting want to mark the occasion. That premise is now more feasible as Elys Game Technology has certification for its kiosk platform in Ohio.
At this point, it’s unclear whether that certification will lead to more sports betting kiosks around the state. If that is the case, though, Sunday would be a great target date to get those kiosks operational.
Elys scores Ohio sports betting certificate
According to a Tuesday press release, Elys Game Technology received certification for self-service betting terminal operation from the Ohio Casino Control Commission. The state’s sports wagering law allows an array of businesses to offer such terminals for patrons.
For the most part, those establishments in Ohio tend to be bars and restaurants. Elys isn’t the only vendor providing the kiosks. Many Type C licensees have partnered with Intralot for such purposes.
Those Intralot kiosks have started to launch across the state over the past week. So far, hundreds of Ohio businesses have successfully applied for Type C licenses. With Elys now approved in the market, more of those licensees could get up and running. It’s just a question of how soon.
Could Elys get terminals fired up before Sunday?
While the Ohio Casino Control Commission maintains a list of all Type C licensees, the list does not include information on which licensees have elected to partner with specific vendors. According to the Ohio Lottery, however, Elys’ Wright Bet platform will undergo a phased launch in March.
For that reason, Ohioans shouldn’t take Elys’ certification as news that more terminals will be fired up in their neighborhood bars and restaurants before Super Bowl Sunday. At the same time, such kiosks could be ready for March Madness.
Overall, Elys’ certification is good news for their partners. In turn, it means more terminals are coming to those businesses this spring.
