Wyoming online sportsbooks bounced back after a dismal November, posting $19 million in handle and $1.8 million in revenue.

Both totals were among the best over the past six months and represented positive monthly growth after the November handle and revenue fell month-on-month.

Online gambling was up despite poor showing from DraftKings

Three of Wyoming’s four online sportsbooks posted gains in handle in December:

  • FanDuel: $4.1 million, up 18.8%
  • BetMGM: $3.1 million, up 14.9%
  • Caesars: $803,768, up 102.4%

DraftKings was the only book to see its handle decline, dropping 8% from $12 million to $11 million.

On the revenue side, the news was good, too. Wyoming online gambling revenue added up to $1.8 million, representing an 18.4% jump over November.

The two big winners in December were DraftKings—which saw its revenue jump more than $400,000—and FanDuel, which posted 41% in December thanks to a roughly $220,000 gain compared to November.

According to the Wyoming Gaming Commission’s latest report, Wyoming’s online sportsbook overall handle grew 2.7% and revenue grew 18.4% month-on-month.

Wyoming’s December sports betting figures among the best in past six months

Looking back over the past half-year reveals that Wyoming’s sports betting handle and revenue put up a strong showing in what tends to be a profitable season for sportsbooks across the country.

The kickoff of the NFL and NCAA men’s football seasons gave the state’s books a huge boost in September, pushing the handle up by more than 84%. By October, Wyoming sports betting handle and revenue hit their highest point since July.

Month Handle Handle Growth Gross Revenue Revenue Growth
December $19,023,733.72 2.69% $1,849,623.90 18.36%
November $18,525,419.66 -12.76% $1,562,756.41 -31.21%
October $21,234,828.26 10.26% $2,271,665.01 48.87%
September $19,259,607.23 84.05% $1,525,986.13 26.34%
August $10,464,584.46 28.47% $1,207,821.13 20.93%
July $8,145,480.25 -14.11% $998,740.08 28.81%

While December’s sports betting numbers didn’t quite match October’s handle, they were solid. Handle was the third-highest and revenue was the second-highest since July.
