For the Seminole Tribe of Florida, it’s a case of out with the old and in with the new. On Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Brighton Seminole Reservation, gaming officials broke ground
on a state-of-the-art facility that will eventually replace the existing Seminole Brighton Casino.
The development plan promises to be much more than just a face-lift for the aging Brighton casino, which originally opened in 1980. The new Florida casino will reside on a 75-acre site and is slated to be a bigger and better experience for its guests and visitors while attracting fresh clientele as well.
What to anticipate from the new Brighton casino
The new location, which is situated northwest of Lake Okeechobee, will include a 38,000 square foot gaming floor. The old site’s current size of 27,000 square feet is smaller than the gaming floor alone of the new development.
Other upgrades include 623 new slot machines and 18 total tables for blackjack, baccarat, and other house-banked card games. The casino will also have a smoke free area for select games. Doors are expected to open in late 2024, which feels like an ambitious timeline. Marcellus Osceola Jr., Chairman of the Seminole Tribe states in a press release,
“Breaking ground for the new Seminole Casino Hotel Brighton represents a major economic step forward for the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the entire Lake Okeechobee.”
Breaking ground and making history
The new casino is loaded with new experiences unseen at other casinos operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Among their six casino complexes, it will be the only casino to have a stylish eight-lane bowling alley for its guests and it will have the first hotel to be built on the Brighton Seminole Reservation.
The new four-story hotel will feature modern amenities such as a pool, fitness center, several restaurants and eateries and an entertainment center for concerts, comedy shows and other live performances. The hotel will have 100 spacious guest rooms for anyone looking to get in on the action.
Osceola Jr. added, “we’re excited to bring a new level of gaming, dining and entertainment to the area, and we look forward to welcoming our current and future guests.”
