Caesars hiring sports betting management for MS casinos
It appears Caesars Entertainment is ready to start setting things up for sports betting. The casino company recently posted for several jobs on several employment websites, including LinkedIn.
There are posts for sportsbook managers at both Biloxi’s Harrah’s Gulf Coast and Horseshoe Tunica. These top-level positions are far from the only ones available though.
In what is perhaps an indication that things are moving quickly, the company is also hiring both supervisors and ticket writers for the properties. In other words, they are readying for a full-scale launch in the very near future. Industry insiders like Legal Sports Report suggested that Mississippi will be ready to launch as soon as summer’s end.
The job postings went up last week. It is interesting to note that similar postings have not gone up for Caesars’ New Jersey casino properties, of which there are three. However, it stands to reason that the company drew on its existing pool of employees in Vegas for some key Atlantic City positions. It is probably an easier sell for people to relocate to New Jersey as opposed to Mississippi.
MGM hot on Caesars’ heels when it comes to betting prep work
Meanwhile, competitor MGM Resorts already has its Atlantic City sportsbook up and running at Borgata Casino. Just yesterday, the casino took an opening bet from none other than sports great Julius Erving, who bet $5 on the Eagles to repeat as Super Bowl winners.
Like Caesars, MGM has multiple job postings for sports book positions at its Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi and Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, MS.
The postings are similar to those by Caesars. The company is looking for managers, supervisors, and clerks at both properties.
Other casinos don’t seem to be searching
While MGM and Caesars are quick to expand, other casino companies do not appear to be moving so quickly. For example, Penn National, which owns several properties in Mississippi, has no sports betting job postings at the moment.
Churchill Downs, who acuired Lady Luck Casino in Vicksburg from Eldorado Resorts earlier this year, also appears to be working on the broad strokes still. The company does have a posting for a corporate director of online gaming development, but no specific positions at Mississippi properties.
For now, it looks like MGM and Caesars will be the first two horses out the gate in the state. However, when that will happen, and who else might be hot on their heels, is a mystery.
