The $1.54 billion total handle ranks seventh all-time for New York since January 2022, when online sports betting launched in the state. January’s $1.79 billion remains the state’s betting handle record.

The April handle is a 14% monthly decrease from a $1.79 billion recorded in March. However, the figure is a year-over-year increase from April 2022’s $1.39 billion.

Combined, NY sportsbooks collected $138.82 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR). As a result, the state gathered just over $68 million in revenue for the month, with $70.8 million in state tax revenue towards education. The revenue figure significantly decreased from $83 million collected in March.

New York online sportsbooks must pay the state a 51% tax rate of their revenue. Since the beginning of last year, New York sports betting has produced over $22 billion in bets.
