For those who thought New Jersey online casinos couldn’t get more profitable, think again. To close out 2022, online casinos in the Garden State reported $151.5 million in revenue for December. Not only that, the industry also eclipsed $1 billion for the year.
According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, NJ online casinos generated $1.66 billion for 2022, a 21.6% increase compared to the $1.37 billion earned one year prior.
As it stands, the online casino industry in New Jersey has generated a grand total of $5.5 billion since its 2013 debut.
Profitable December to close out 2022 for New Jersey online casinos
As mentioned, the eight online casino licensees generated $151.5 million in revenue in December, resulting in $26.5 million in state taxes.
The top online operator to close out the year was Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, powered by BetMGM. Borgata generated $43.7 million in revenue, up 18% from the same period last year.
In second was Resort Digital, led by DraftKings, Barstool and Resorts. The three operators reported an all-time record month with $40.4 million. That’s up 22.7% from the same month last year ($32.9 million).
Closing out the top three was Golden Nugget Atlantic City, which includes BetRivers, FanDuel and Golden Nugget online casino. Combined, the three operators reported $37.8 million.

Total NJ gaming revenue
Total NJ gaming revenue came in at $5.2 billion, which includes the $1.66 billion from NJ online casinos. AC land-based casino revenue totaled $2.8 billion, including $215.6 million generated in December.
As for New Jersey sports betting, the industry ed for $762.9 million of the total NJ gambling revenue. To finish the year, NJ sportsbooks collected $87.7 million in revenue for December.
