According to the Delaware Lottery’s latest revenue report, online casinos in the state generated $36.41 million in total bets. The revenue of nearly $1.18 million represented an annual drop but a monthly increase.
While gambling activities have decreased due to a summer slowdown, the Delaware Lottery selected Rush Street Interactive (RSI) as its latest online gaming partner. The new operator may help bring in an additional boost to the state’s revenue numbers.
Breaking down Delaware online betting handle and revenue for July 2023
As mentioned, Delaware’s online gambling handle in July was $36.41 million. To be more specific, throughout the month, Delaware casino enthusiasts wagered:
- $24.65 million on online video lottery games
- $11.77 million on online table games
July’s betting handle number is down 7.57% compared to July 2022’s $39.39 million. It is also a 3.86% drop from June’s $37.87 million.
In total, 1,157 registrations were coming from the state’s three casinos:
- Delaware Park: 465 (an increase from June’s 390)
- Bally’s Dover: 455 (an improvement from 391 registrations in June)
- Harrington: 237 (up from June’s 203 players registrations)
online casinos won $1.18 million in revenue, coming from:
- Video lottery games: $915,640
- Table games: $221,187
The revenue figure is a 5.6% year-over-year drop from July 2022’s $1.25 million, but it is a 2.35% increase compared to June’s revenue of $1.145 million.
Delaware Park was the top performer in July
According to the Delaware Lottery’s July revenue report, the leading operator throughout July was Delaware Park, generating $475,192 in revenue from $16.86 million in total bets.
Bally’s Dover followed with a betting handle of $9.8 million, bringing $363,047 in revenue.
Harrington Raceway was the least successful, with $9.7 million in total bets and a revenue of $343,449.
Delaware sports betting figures also show a decrease
Delaware Lottery reported that the sports betting handle in July was $2.26 million. The figure is a 15% yearly decrease from July 2022’s $2.68 million. Likewise, it is almost a 28% monthly drop from June’s 2023 $3.13 million.
Delaware sports betting revenue totaled $283,025, down from July 2022’s $383,249 but up from June 2023’s $71,029. Delaware Park was also the most successful sports betting operator throughout July. Here’s an entire scope:
- Delaware Park generated $112,884 in revenue from a $1,005,981 handle
- Bally’s Dover collected $65,565 in revenue from $566,259 in total bets
- Harrington made $18,446 in revenue from a total betting handle of $170,085.
Delaware Lottery selected RSI as its online gaming partner
As announced last week, the Delaware Lottery selected RSI as its new partner for online gambling. Although the gambling company didn’t face much competition, it had the advantage thanks to successfully running sports betting and online casino verticals.
According to the deal, RSI will initially provide online gaming in Delaware for five years. Through its brands, BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse and RushBet, the operator lives in fifteen US states.
RSI will replace 888 Holdings, which withdrew from the tender in May.
